Fascia Rot Repair and Drip Edge Installation
Project Overview
Repaired a 30-foot run of rotted fascia along the front eave of a ranch in Fairfield. Water had been wicking behind undersized drip edge for years, soaking the fascia and the top edge of the decking.
Analysis
Removed aluminum fascia wrap to find the original 1x8 pine fascia soft across most of the run. Decking edge was black and crumbling in the worst 6-foot section. Gutter was pulling away from the rotten fascia.
Process
Two-day project. Day 1 fascia and decking repair. Day 2 drip edge, rewrap, gutter reattachment with new hidden hangers.
Outcome
Clean straight eave line restored. Gutter is now secure with new hidden hangers. Drip edge properly routes water into the gutter instead of behind it.
