Partial Shingle Replacement After Ice Dam Damage
Project Overview
Repaired the front slope of a two-story home in Little Falls after ice dams lifted shingles the previous winter. Homeowner found curled shingles and exposed nail heads along the eave.
Analysis
The first 4 courses up from the eave were lifted and partially detached from adhesive seal. Original underlayment was felt paper, badly torn. No ice & water shield existed at the eave. Decking was dry.
Process
One-day job. Morning tear-off and underlayment, afternoon shingling and cleanup.
Outcome
Eave now has proper ice & water protection. No ice damming or leaks the following winter even during a severe freeze-thaw cycle.
