Rotted Fascia and Drip Edge Replacement
Project Overview
Fascia boards along the front eave showed paint failure and softness to the touch. Gutter system was pulling away from the house in two spots. Homeowner requested full fascia replacement and new aluminum drip edge along the eaves.
Analysis
Water had been running behind the original drip edge for years due to worn shingle overhangs. The pine fascia had absorbed moisture and was actively rotting on the bottom edge where the gutter fastened. Soffit was intact and did not need replacement.
Process
Gutter removal and protection; fascia removal; sheathing edge inspection; PVC fascia install; drip edge and shingle tuck; new gutter install; end cap and downspout install; debris cleanup.
Outcome
Front eave now has a rot-proof PVC fascia and correctly tucked drip edge. Gutters are pitched cleanly and draining to the ground without splash-back onto the siding.
