Storm Damage Shingle Repair on a Two-Story Colonial
Project Overview
A February wind event tore approximately eighteen shingles from the windward slope of a two-story colonial. Remaining shingles on that slope showed lifted tabs and broken sealant bonds.
Analysis
Wind uplift had compromised roughly one hundred twenty square feet of shingle field. The underlayment and decking were intact. Adjoining slopes remained sealed, with no evidence of secondary damage.
Process
Dry-in of exposed area on arrival; removal of damaged shingles and loose debris; inspection of decking for splits; installation of new starter and field shingles; hand-sealing adjacent tabs; final cleanup and magnetic sweep.
Outcome
Repaired slope now matches factory wind rating. Homeowner passed subsequent insurance re-inspection without issue. No further shingle loss through two spring storms.
