Valley Leak Repair and Decking Replacement
Project Overview
Repaired a recurring valley leak on a 1970s split-level in Passaic. Staining on the living room ceiling traced back to a metal valley that had corroded through in two spots.
Analysis
Galvanized W-valley was rusted and punctured. Decking underneath was spongy across approximately 12 linear feet. The old valley lacked ice & water shield and relied solely on the metal.
Process
One and a half day project. Afternoon of day 1 for tear-out and decking. Day 2 morning for ice & water, new valley, and shingle closure.
Outcome
Leak fully resolved through two heavy rainstorms. Ceiling stain treated and painted by homeowner. Valley now has proper layered protection.
